during her stay, aina explored places both near and far Itoshima, by foot and by train. since then, she has developed an interesting fascination with trains and their maze-like stations, often getting lost at first but eventually finding her own rhythm amongst the sea of
people. as a culmination of her 1-month stay in Japan, "on the train, "i sat with my shadows, and now we are best friends", is a work that emerged from the experiences, sights, and feelings she felt while traveling alone, playing with shadow cut-outs as her medium. she
reflects upon the idea of how it is often perceived as a lonely thought --- "to have no one but your shadows" --- but has found herself feeling differently. the work entails of the fun, the struggles, and the self-discoveries she has had with herself and her art.
