on the train i sat w my shadows & now we r best friends

during her stay, aina explored places both near and far Itoshima, by foot and by train. since then, she has developed an interesting fascination with trains and their maze-like stations, often getting lost at first but eventually finding her own rhythm amongst the sea of people. as a culmination of her 1-month stay in Japan, "on the train, "i sat with my shadows, and now we are best friends", is a work that emerged from the experiences, sights, and feelings she felt while traveling alone, playing with shadow cut-outs as her medium. she reflects upon the idea of how it is often perceived as a lonely thought --- "to have no one but your shadows" --- but has found herself feeling differently. the work entails of the fun, the struggles, and the self-discoveries she has had with herself and her art.
